The starting line part provides an overview of Nozicks argument in favour of the minimal state; the second part summarises Rawls idea of the role and nature of establishment as being ideally expressed in the welfare state. Nozicks criticisms of Rawls are then considered, and a critique provided of the approaches adopted by both Nozick and Rawls.
