Bullying has become a wide spread occupation at the Ilwaco Middle-High School. Both my daughters attend Ilwaco Middle High School and lay down had numerous issues with blustering(a) first hand; they have been harassed with name calling, statements about their family, and even physical attacks by other students. Some of the students at the schooling have had it worsened than others. With students becoming more open about their sexual orientation, the ballyrag of these students has gotten more aggressive. One of my daughters friends was bullied so hard due to her sexual orientation; she felt the exactly elan out was to leave school. When the verbal harassment didnt work, the bullies discover her car and spray painted it with anti- gay slogans. When these issues were brought to the attention of the schools principals, unrivalled principal said that if they dont see it travel by there is not much they can do about it. That is not an adequate answer.
How do we as not only individuals, but as a community begin to dissolve this serious issue of bullying? The prevention of bullying should be a high priority to parents, teachers, faculty members, and the school board. The effects of bullying can leave lifelong scars for so umpteen innocent victims on the receiving end of this unnecessary problem.
The Ocean beach School District has drawn up a designing to deal with bullying, and the first line of defense in this picture is counseling, but they dont have a counselor. Does that hold still for the district just put together a mean that would look good? No it means a school with a bullying problem needs a counselor. The issues with bullying at the Ilwaco High School need to be address by adding a behavioral counselor in weigh down of a comprehensive bullying prevention program.
