Starry Night

The blushering, The Starry Night by Vincent van van van Gogh is a famous and classical foot of art work.  forefront Gogh uses very cool coloured oil paints in extensive quantities on a canvas for this night scene. It is 74 by 93 centimetres which is roughly two and a half feet by three feet, the painting was placed in a galactic gold frame. The paint was applied using an impasto technique reservation every brush stroke jump off the canvas. Van Gogh uses middling of a pointillistic technique. He applies the paint in short strokes letting the colours mix on the canvas instead of on the palette. Van Gogh completed the painting in June of 1889, which art historians say that the town organism depicted is Saint Remy, France. The Starry Night is currently creation held in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The piece is one of the most iconic expressionist paintings to this day and by far van Goghs most notable piece.

The Starry Night is an expressionist piece of a very small town. Van Gogh gives the smasher a hilltop vantage point which lets the witnesser gaze down on the town. The cypress tree seems to project out of the painting and grab the viewers look; its ponderous vertical brush strokes the tree leading the viewers eye toward the sky.



With swirling brush strokes the sky whisks the viewers  eyes across the painting outline them almost off the edge of the painting, but the bright, glowing rounded moon grabs the viewers attention and brings them right back into the painting. There is somewhat of a downward slant from the right side which takes the viewer into the calm town.The 11 stars create a rhythm in the sky and van Gogh uses the repetition of the circular stars to pass off the flow in the sky going smoothly across the canvas. The rhythm helps the viewers eyes move from object to object in the painting.
